Natural landscape showing order and harmony in nature

Our Philosophy

A Comprehensive Framework of Coexistence

Our work is guided by an understanding that views human development, relationships, society, and nature as interconnected dimensions of one co-existential whole.

Madhyasth Darshan (Co-existentialism) was propounded by A. Nagraj. It presents a comprehensive, integrated understanding of existence as coexistence, explaining that everything in the universe is connected and lives in relation to the whole.

Rather than treating human life, society, and the natural environment as separate elements, it explores how human aspirations (happiness and prosperity), relationships, social systems, and nature participate together. It outlines existence across its material and conscious dimensions, demonstrating that mutual fulfilment is the natural order.

Through this understanding, human development is viewed not as a struggle against nature or competition with others, but as the realization of humane conduct and responsible participation within relationships, society, and the ecological system.

Jeevan Vidya–Sah-Astitva

Study, Dialogue and Verification in Living

Jeevan Vidya–Sah-Astitva offers a process through which individuals can study, discuss and verify propositions related to human life, relationships, society and nature.

The emphasis is not on accepting ideas as belief. It is on examining them through reflection, dialogue and lived experience. This process has informed several educational, institutional and community initiatives connected with SHAPE Foundation.

01

Study

Engage with proposals related to human life, relationships, society and nature.

02

Dialogue

Discuss these questions with others in a spirit of clarity, listening and shared inquiry.

03

Reflection

Examine the proposals in relation to one’s own experience and daily conduct.

04

Verification

Observe whether the understanding leads to harmony, responsibility and mutual fulfilment in living.

A. Nagraj: Propounder of Madhyasth Darshan

1920 - 2016

A. Nagraj propounded Madhyasth Darshan following a sustained, lifelong inquiry into the nature of existence, human purpose, and the causes of conflict. His work represents an articulation of coexistence, exploring the fundamental conditions required for human beings to live with happiness, prosperity, fearlessness in society, and balance with nature.

His teachings and writings did not seek to establish a new sect or belief system, but rather invited individuals to verify the proposals in their own conduct. His clarity and perspective continue to guide the direction that later inspired the establishment of SHAPE Foundation.

“Experience of coexistence is the ultimate knowledge.”

Philosophy in Action

This understanding guides how SHAPE supports education, health, production, justice and exchange.
