Manviya Shiksha Shodh Sansthan (MSSS)

MSSS operates a distinctive dual-school structure that allows the institution to work within recognised academic requirements while exploring a broader, value-based model of education.

One part of the institution follows the state board curriculum and provides formal academic education for classes from early years through the middle-school stage.

The second part focuses more specifically on holistic learning rooted in Madhyasth Darshan and Jeevan Vidya–Sah-Astitva.

The objective is not to create a division between academic and value-based education. Instead, MSSS seeks to connect them so that learning becomes more relevant to the child’s life.

Jeevan Vidya–Sah-Astitva provides an important foundation for the educational approach at MSSS. Students are encouraged to understand themselves as human beings and explore the basis of happiness, relationships and responsible participation.

The approach is based on self-exploration rather than moral instruction. Students are not simply told what is right or wrong; they are encouraged to examine situations, ask questions and understand the consequences of their choices.

This process helps make value education more meaningful. Instead of memorising rules, students gradually develop clarity about why trust, respect, responsibility and cooperation matter in life.

MSSS integrates Chetna Vikas and Mulya Shiksha into its wider educational environment. Chetna Vikas focuses on the development of understanding in the human being, encouraging students to examine their thoughts, expectations, and relationships.

Mulya Shiksha helps students understand human values as the basis of fulfilling relationships. These areas are directly connected with practical life skills.

Life skills are not treated only as techniques for professional success. They are connected with the learner's ability to live responsibly, maintain harmonious relationships, and build a balanced life.

MSSS currently works with a team of 16 teachers. The role of teachers extends beyond delivering subject content to creating an environment where students feel respected, heard and encouraged to participate.

In a human-centred educational model, the conduct of the teacher is as important as the lesson being taught.

To support teacher development, MSSS has partnered with The Reading Tree, a Mumbai-based school, for teacher training. The training is conducted for approximately six days every two months, helping teachers refine their methods and reflect on classroom practice.

Family participation is a central part of the MSSS approach. Six families are actively involved in the wider educational and community environment, and the institution conducts regular monthly meetings with parents.

MSSS works to create a dialogue between parents' aspirations for academic achievement/career success and the school's vision of holistic human development.

This continued communication helps build trust and ensures that the values taught at school are supported and mirrored at home.

MSSS plans to increase student engagement in practical activities such as agriculture, Gaushala management and work connected with a local oil mill.

These activities help students understand production, responsibility, and cooperation through direct experience, bridging the gap between classroom theory and everyday life.

The purpose is to help students understand the dignity of work, the importance of production, and the interconnected nature of human needs.

MSSS has developed a growing educational community in Buldhana since its establishment in 2017.

The project aims to reach approximately 100 students annually through its wider educational and Jeevan Vidya–Sah-Astitva activities.

MSSS measures its impact not only through student enrollment but also through changes in student participation, relationships, confidence, responsibility and value understanding.

One of the major challenges faced by MSSS is aligning parent expectations with its unconventional educational approach. Many parents focus on marks, competitive examinations, and immediate job placement.

MSSS addresses this challenge through continuous communication, showing that holistic education does not mean lowering academic standards. Instead, it helps students become capable, responsible, and emotionally mature while progressing academically.
