About

About the Foundation

A child needs more than basic services. They also need a place to be seen, to practise, and to find they can improve.

Sinhayana Foundation is a Mumbai non-profit. Dance, music and theatre are used as work, not only as a show: a sequence learned, a group rehearsal, a performance.

Our work

How the work is done

Practice, a channel for hard feeling, and a room that justice should have given them already.

Arts as daily work

01 / Practice

Arts as daily work

Learning a dance, keeping time in music, or standing in a play trains focus, memory, patience and the body.

A channel for hard feeling

02 / Life around the art

A channel for hard feeling

Frustration, fear and isolation can pull a young person off school or toward unsafe company.

Equal access to a creative room

03 / Justice and Protection

Equal access to a creative room

Many children do not start with the same access to culture, mentoring or a safe room after school.

Next

Workshops, rooms and a clearer public record

Next: keep workshops going, secure rehearsal space, support instructors, and write down who is reached and what changes. That record is still thin.

Workshops and teaching materials

Rehearsal space, costumes, instruments

Mentors and instructors

Document who takes part and what follows

Art here is a way to practise being seen for what you can do, not only for what you lack.
